Strategy implementation and implementation in everyday life

Without the implementation and implementation of the strategy, or perhaps better the implementation, in everyday life, the strategy has little value. Perhaps for this reason, the school of strategic management was also born at one time, which preached about putting the strategy into action and implementing it. Both are beautiful thoughts, but in everyday life they are often quite depressing!

The implementation and realization of the strategy in everyday life, when they are at their best when progressing towards a common inspiring goal, living in accordance with the organization's culture, and following jointly decided steps. This is the question in modern day-to-day implementation of strategy in the most successful organizations.

What about you? See the checklist below

  1. Is the strategy visible and audible in everyday life?
  2. Do people feel a common and hopefully inspiring goal?
  3. Have the strategic goals been defined and communicated in an understandable way?
  4. Are the key metrics and/or results developing in the right direction?
  5. Does the culture support the implementation of the strategy?
  6. Do people feel like they are part of a success story?
  7. Do people know what is required of them in everyday life?
  8. Does the strategy come true in everyday life?

Strategy for everyday life - how is the implementation of strategy easier?

In fact, strategy is usually lived better in everyday life, the more clearly it has an inspiring and forward-moving shared goal (vision), which has been successfully crystallized into a memorable story. In addition, from the point of view of the implementation of the strategy, it is important that every unit, team and individual knows the strategic goals that affect their own work, as well as the key results and actions.

We are often asked for help in implementing the strategy, for example:

Strategy for everyday life with the OKR model

The idea of "Strategy for everyday life" is the fulfillment of many managers' dreams. One key model for strategic management and strategy implementation is the OKR model (Objectives and Key Results), experienced in the new renaissance, which helps break down strategy implementation, monitoring its progress and communicating it into shorter and closer to everyday periods.

In the OKR model, the goals (O) are qualitative and vision-like. For example, the strategic goal "customer satisfaction" often written into strategies - a bit paper-like - would turn into "customers love us" in OKR language. In the OKR model, on the other hand, the key results could be for the next quarter: 1. We improve our NPS result + 4 points and 2. We reduce the number of customer complaints by 10 per quarter.

The OKR model often speeds up the implementation of the strategy and the realization of the strategy. It summarizes the strategy in a more comprehensible way, and speeds up the execution and review of strategic goals, as well as the rhythm of learning. The model is also good because the goals and key results can be both top-down and bottom-up, which often increases the organization's internal transparency of the strategy's progress, but also brings a new kind of ownership to it at every level. In this way, joint communication, storytelling is created around the strategy, and goals become part of everyday activities.

Each model, including the OKR model, contains its own weaknesses and strengths. More important than a single tool or methodology is choosing the management models and reference frameworks that are suitable for the situation and culture of your own organization, with the help of which the strategy is implemented in everyday life.

Do you need help implementing the strategy and putting it into everyday life, or do you just want to spar on this topic?
