The Western Uusimaa Network of Tomorrow has chosen More Than companies as its partner for the project., which aims to open new perspectives on the future of Western Uusimaa. At the heart of the collaboration is a regional futures study, which examines changes in the operating environment and builds alternative future scenarios up to 2035.
The future of Western Uusimaa is often discussed from the perspective of current pressures – the economy, services, demographic development and investments. The aim of the collaboration is to create space for a longer-term discussion: what kind of area is being built, what choices lie ahead and what alternative development paths the future can offer.
The future review is led by the CEO of More Than Strategy Oy Chord Kouki, according to which future thinking is an increasingly central part of regional development. In an uncertain operating environment, those regions that are able to anticipate change, prepare for alternatives and utilize new opportunities in time will succeed. From the perspective of the Western Uusimaa network of tomorrow, future work is being carried forward by Antti Harjuoja (Inkoo), Kim Juntunen (Siuntio) and Petteri Ahomaa (Raasepori).
The result of the future analysis is a set of scenarios that provide a common language and framework to support decision-making and development. The scenarios do not predict a single correct development direction, but help to understand uncertainties, identify key developments and engage in constructive discussion about the future of the region.
The process will start with a survey of residents and actors in the region, collecting views on the changes, challenges and opportunities in Western Uusimaa. Based on the survey, preliminary scenarios will be drawn up, which will be deepened and finalized with key people in the region in a workshop. In spring 2026, the impacts of the scenarios will be discussed with both decision-makers and residents as part of a broader discussion on the future direction of the region.
The Western Uusimaa Network of Tomorrow invites all actors in the region to join. Future work is based on broad participation – the views of local residents, entrepreneurs, organizations and decision-makers all matter. A common future is not born ready-made, but is built together.
